It’s almost time for Summer off the Streets in the Cotswolds!
Release date: 6 July 2017
Summer off the Streets is almost here! This means that an impressive number of fantastic fun-filled workshops for children, young people and families will be taking place at Bourton-on-the-Water, Fairford, Northleach, Stow-on-the-Wold, and Upper Rissington during the school summer holidays.
Activities will include: creative arts and crafts; circus skills; music technology; bushcraft and outdoor play; street dance; and cookery skills.
Many workshops will be free but those which carry a charge will only cost £5 per person. In most cases, advance booking will be essential.
Full details of the workshop programme and how to book, can be found on the Summer off the Streets website. This also includes information about workshop activities taking place at nearby Cam and Dursley.
In addition to the workshops, there will also be several Community Fun Day events in the Cotswolds which will be free for everyone. No bookings will be necessary. They will take place as follows:
Sunday 6th August: Summer Skate Park Event at the Jubilee Field and Skate Park in Cam 1 pm to 4 pm
Wednesday 2nd August: Playday at St Michaels Park in Cirencester 1 pm to 4pm
Friday 11 August: Family Fun Day in Upper Rissington Sports Field 12.30 pm to 3.30pm
Friday 18 August: Family Fun Day at King George V Playing Field, Northleach 12.30 pm to 3.30pm
Local community and arts organisation World Jungle is organising the programme with support from Cotswold District Council, Cirencester Town Council, Fairford Town Council and Gloucestershire County Council’s Youth Activities fund.
Ben Ward from World Jungle says:
“The 2017 ‘Summer off the Streets’ programme provides activities for children of all abilities to have fun, learn some skills and make new friends – there really is something for everyone! We hope that this programme will give young people and families access to some really great events to enjoy over the summer holidays.
Cllr Stephen Hirst, Cabinet Member for Health and Leisure at Cotswold District Council, is impressed by the range of activities on offer:
“It’s good to see so many activities to choose from, and I am sure that children across the District will enjoy them immensely. Many of the activities are free and I am sure that many families will appreciate an opportunity to have some fun without breaking the bank. Even the workshops which carry a fee are very reasonable.”
