Reduce and reuse your waste
Waste Wizard
Unsure of how to dispose of your old and unwanted items? The Gloucestershire Recycles Waste Wizard can help! Enter your postcode, look up your item and find out if it can be recycled, if others could use it, or find your nearest repair café to give items a new lease of life.
Reuse
Reusing items where possible helps to extend a product's life and reduces the need to make new items, saving valuable resources.
Charity shops are happy to accept a range of items including clothes, shoes, books and children’s toys.
There are a number of reuse networks and voluntary and community groups throughout Gloucestershire who may be happy to take your unwanted items. Take a look at the Gloucestershire Recycles website for information on how to swap, donate and buy reused items.
Reduce your waste
The Love Food Hate Waste website has tips and recipes to help reduce your food waste.
If you find a product that you you think has too much packaging you can report it to Gloucestershire’s Trading Standards.
Reducing the amount of packaging we buy is one positive step we can all make. Make sure you understand what the labelling and recycling symbols on the packaging means.
Real nappies
Disposable nappies account for around 10% of waste. Reusable nappies are environmentally friendly and can save you money. Residents in Gloucestershire can get a £30 voucher off the price of real nappies or nappy starter pack through the Gloucestershire Recycles real nappy scheme.
