Chief Executive vacancy

We are an ambitious council looking for an ambitious Chief Executive.

The role of Chief Executive is:

  • full time
  • based in Cirencester.
  • with a salary up to £110,000 per annum

Who we are

These have been remarkable times for local government and we have been up for the challenge. Changes to working practices and digital services that would normally take months or years have been accomplished in days. We want to build on that pace of change and are looking for an ambitious individual to work with us.

Our plans to support housing for all, including building social rented homes again, will need to be underpinned by the successful recovery of the economy.  We want to see more digital engagement, great careers for young people and fully supported working from home. We are a founding member of the newly created Countryside Climate Network, and aim quickly become a zero-carbon council.

We have already taken radical decisions about how we provide services, setting up Publica, a joint services company with two other councils.

The video shows Leader of the Council Joe Harris explaining more our aims and what we are looking for.

What we are looking for

As Chief Executive, you will bring energy and strategic vision to help accelerate innovation, create responsive services and benefit our 90,000 residents. Although you may not work in local government, you will understand the priorities for public services. You will have the leadership skills to inspire others and make change happen.

You will be tackling issues such as creating genuinely affordable housing amid the climate emergency, shaping public transport and helping stimulate economic growth in our District.

How to apply

This vacancy is being handled by our recruitment partners Penna. Further details and how to apply are on the Penna website.

The closing date is 9 August 2020.
