Report an overflowing recycling bank

To recycle the following materials, please take them to one of the Council's many household recycling banks:

  • Tetra-paks
  • Videos
  • Books
  • Cans
  • Clothing, shoes and textiles
  • Glass

Household recycling centres

You can recycle or dispose of household waste free of charge at any of the household recycling centres which are managed by Ubico for Gloucestershire County Council. In the summer months, they are open from 9am to 5pm and in the winter months from 10am to 4pm.

Each household recycling centre in the Cotswold District has a mid week day closure (see below table), but is open every other day of the year apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Appointment booking scheme

You must make an appointment to take a van, pick-up, horsebox or vehicle with a trailer with a load area larger than 6' by 4' to any of Gloucestershire County Council’s household recycling centres. This is to stop trade waste from being illegally dumped at the centres, which are for household waste only.

Hazardous and difficult waste

Household chemicals and paint

An area is provided at the household recycling centres for the safe disposal of small quantities of household chemicals such as weed killers, pesticides, solvents and paint. 

Asbestos

The household recycling centres can dispose of small amounts of asbestos. For further details of the amount that can be taken please:

  • phone the helpline on 0845 602 9344 (calls to this number cost 5 pence per minute plus your telephone company's access charge.)

You may need to use a private contractor to help remove or dispose of large amounts of asbestos. 

Under no circumstances should you attempt to break up any asbestos material.

Tyres and gas cylinders

You should take old tyres to a garage or tyre and exhaust centre for disposal. Gas cylinders should be returned to the supplier where possible. For information about disposing of gas cylinders please:
