Are you a budding photographer?

We’re looking for photos of our beautiful district and communities so we can print and display them inside public areas of our council buildings and use them across the council social media pages. 

We’re not just looking for landscapes and scenery, we want to see the people and communities of the Cotswolds. Be as creative as you want! 

This competition is open to all ages and abilities. There are no rules on what device you must take the photos with, however we ask that no photos are smaller than 2MB and that they do not exceed 10MB. 

The photographs chosen by our judging panel will be printed and displayed in our council buildings, which will include a photo credit to you. They will also have the chance to be featured across our social media channels and newsletter content. Those with the best photos will be entered into a prize draw with the best image winning a 60 x 40cm canvas of their winning image and a Cotswold Edition Monopoly Board and two runners up will win a Cotswold Edition Monopoly Board each.

To win all you need to do is click on the link below to enter your photo, please include your full name and a description of your photo. The competition closed at 11:59pm on Thursday 19 October 2023.

Photo competition T&Cs

This competition is owned and managed by Cotswold District Council whose registered office is at Council Offices, Trinity Road, Cirencester GL7 1PX.

The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom except employees of Cotswold District Council and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.

There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.

By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

Route to entry for the competition and details of how to enter are via www.cotswold.gov.uk/photocompetition. This competition will be promoted across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Nextdoor. 

Entrants may submit as many photos as they like, but only one of their photos can be chosen.

Closing date for entry will be Thursday 19 October 2023 at 11:59pm. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.

No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:

  • Entrants must send in their best photographs of the Cotswolds 
  • The photos can either be Cotswold communities in action or entertainment (tree planting, markets, festivals, games etc) (please remember consent must be given if you are taking photos of residents) or Cotswold countryside/towns/villages (various landscapes, interesting architecture etc) 
  • Entrants that submit photos agree for their photos to be used across Cotswold District Council social media channels, Cotswold District Council w-newsletters, press releases and for printed copies to be used in public areas of the council buildings.
  • There are no rules on what is used to take the photograph, however photos submitted must be high-resolution and be no larger than 10MB.
  • Entrants must fill out our survey and upload their image which requires a Google log in. If you cannot log in, you can email your images. Please be aware that sending photos via email may reduce their quality. 

The council reserve the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of our control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible.

The council are not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

There will be multiple winners throughout as the best images will be chosen to be used across Cotswold District Council social media and web content, as well as being used across Cotswold News publication. There will be three prizes for the best 3 images: 

  • The best photograph will win a 60 x 40 cm canvas print of their winning image and a Cotswold Edition Monopoly Board
  • Two runners up will win a Cotswold Edition Monopoly Board each
  • The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered.The prizes are not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

The two winners will be chosen by our judging panel after 20 October 2023. 

The winners will be notified by email week commencing 23 October 2023. The winners will only ever be contacted by email. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner. 

The winners of the prize may either collect their prize from our registered offices at Council Offices, Trinity Road, Cirencester GL7 1PX, or the prize can be sent to their registered address.

The council’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.

The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.

The winners agree to the use of their name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.

Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
