CDC smashes affordable homes delivery target for 2017/18

Release date: 4 May 2018

Recently available housing completion figures show that Cotswold District Council has comfortably exceeded its target of delivering 150 affordable homes during 2017/18.

CDC delivered 247 affordable housing units during the year at sites across the District including Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Campden, Cirencester, Fairford, Mickleton, Moreton-in-Marsh and Tetbury. The properties comprise social rented, affordable rented and low cost home ownership properties for families and single households.

Commenting on this achievement, CDC Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Stephen Hirst, said:

“I am very pleased to see that so many new affordable homes have come on stream over the last 12 months. The Council is committed to providing affordable local homes for local people, and these latest figures are visible proof of our intent.

“Having pledged to deliver 150 affordable homes in 2017/18, it is great to see that the target has been exceeded by almost 100 units. However, there is no room for complacency – the need for affordable housing in this District continues to climb as local families find that homes on the open market are often beyond their price range. We know that we must continue to work with developers, ensuring that a sensible number of new affordable homes are built for local people of all ages.”
