Holiday home guidance

We have guidance around the use and development of holiday homes. This means that holiday homes will fit in with the Local Plan. Allowing people to visit and make use of areas, which boosts the economy, without creating pressure on local housing stock.

Holiday accommodation cannot be used as a primary residence or for business purposes.

In the Cotswold Water Park planning permission was only granted for holiday accommodation to meet tourism/holiday needs. Developers were not required to provide the infrastructure and other services that would have been necessary if permanent residences were being approved.

Properties may also have restrictive covenants as part of the lease agreement with the landlord. This is outside of our controlĀ and would be enforced by the landlord.
