Designating a neighbourhood area

In the Cotswold District, only town and parish councils* are able to approach us to designate a Neighbourhood Area.

We require two documents; a map defining the area proposed and an application form.

We expect a map to be either a scale of 1:50,000 or OS Vector Map Local (the replacement for 1:10,000).  These can be in either black or white or colour, but we would expect a clear boundary of the proposed area to be marked in colour.

There are a number of mapping tools available on the internet which will enable you to develop an appropriate map, as well as develop further maps which you will probably need as your plan develops.

Please contact us to express your interest in neighbourhood planning or to request a copy of the application form.

*except in areas with a parish meeting - if this is the case, please contact us for further information.
