  • Stratton cemetery

Burials administration team

The register of burials, grave ownership and memorial information are held by the Burials administration team based at our offices at the Moreton Area Centre, Moreton in Marsh. The Burials Administration Team can: 

  • help to search for relatives buried at either Chesterton or Stratton Cemetery
  • advise about reserving and purchasing a grave space
  • help to make funeral arrangements for the interment of cremated remains, without the services of a Funeral Director
  • answer questions about Chesterton or Stratton cemeteries

Researching burial records of a loved one

We hold burial records for Chesterton Cemetery and Stratton Cemeteries only. Records for all other burials are held by the local Parish or Town Council, or by the church if the interment was in a church yard.

Fees and charges for Chesterton and Stratton cemeteries

The following fees and charges apply to Chesterton and Stratton cemeteries.

Internment fees

(a)  include the digging of the grave

(b)  apply when the interment is made within the following hours:

  •  April to September: Mondays to Fridays   9am - 3pm
  •  October to March: Mondays to Fridays   9am - 2pm

(c)  apply when the interment is made on the certificate of a coroner or registered medical practitioner that immediate interment is necessary.

In any other case there will be an additional charge.

Green burial

A green burial is designed to sensitively lay to rest someone in an ecologically friendly way.
