Current and future elections

Important changes are coming for the May 2023 local elections
All residents voting in person at the May 2023 elections will be required to show an acceptable form of ID to be able to vote. This does not affect postal voting. Find out more here.

District and parish/town elections – Thursday 4 May 2023

All district, parish and town councillors will stand down and elections will take place to replace them.

Anyone wishing to stand as a candidate must submit a nomination paper to the Returning Officer between Monday 20 March 2023 and the deadline of 4pm on Tuesday 4 April 2023.

Fairford referendum - 4 May 2023

The Fairford Neighbourhood Development Plan has been subject to consultation and independent examination. Cotswold District Council has considered the examiner’s report, and determined, that subject to his recommended modifications, the plan should proceed to referendum. The Neighbourhood Plan will go to referendum on 4 May 2023.

Publication of notice of election 

Friday 17 March 2023

Delivery of nomination papers to the Returning Officer

During office hours from Monday 20 March up to the deadline at 4pm on Tuesday 4 April 2023

Publication of Statement of Persons Nominated

No later than 4pm, Wednesday 5 April 2023

Last date to register as an elector for the election 

Monday 17 April 2023

Deadline for submission of a postal vote application form 

5pm, Tuesday 18 April 2023

Deadline for submission of a proxy vote application form

5pm, Tuesday 25 April 2023

Deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate, if required **

5pm, Tuesday 25 April 2023

Polling day

7am to 10pm, Thursday 4 May 2023

** From 4 May 2023, electors voting at a polling station will be required to provide photo ID before being given their ballot papers. If you don’t have one of the acceptable forms of Voter ID, you may apply for a Voter Authority Certificate.
