Food waste: kitchen caddy

Food waste caddies are emptied every week. 

Line your kitchen caddy using compostable liners, paper, old carrier bags, bread or sandwich bags.

Food waste must go in your food waste caddy and not in your garden bin.

Food waste caddies are dishwasher proof if you need to clean them.

What to put in your food waste bin

Please put the following in your food waste caddy:

  • all uneaten food and plate scrapings
  • mouldy or out of date food
  • eggs and egg shells
  • small amount of liquids, oil and fat (including solid fats such as lard)
  • tea bags and coffee grounds
  • newspaper or approved compostable liners
  • cat and dog food
  • animal hair
  • uneaten food from your plates and dishes
  • used kitchen roll and paper tissues

What not to put in your food waste bin

We are unable to collect the following in your food waste caddy:

  • plastic, except for carrier bags, food and sandwich bags which you can use to line your caddy
  • packaging of any kind
  • metal and glass
  • any other household waste
  • animal faeces
  • animal bedding
  • pet litter
  • pet/animal carcasses
  • cardboard
  • nappies
