Driver licence renewals

You now need to complete a tax check on GOV.UK when you apply or renew your licence.

SAFEGUARDING TRAINING COURSE
All existing licence holders must attend safeguarding refresher training every 3 years. Failure to undertake the training within the specified timescales will lead to the suspension of your licence until such time as the training has been completed and a certificate has been provided to the Licensing Team.
If you have not completed a safeguarding course with one of the recognised providers within the last 3 years you must book onto a course and provide a copy of your certificate. This must be undertaken by 30 June 2024.
Details of course dates and providers can be found on our step by step guide for new applicants under the ‘Book a Safeguarding Training Course’ heading.

You can renew your licence at a reduced cost if you return the application form at least 7 days before your licence expires.

If your licence has expired, you’ll need to apply for a new licence at the full cost.

It is your responsibility to check the expiry date of your licence. We will not send you a reminder or any other documents.

Please refer to our step by step guide for new applicants to ensure you still meet the relevant criteria to hold a valid licence, e.g. Medical assessment.
